Maybe in the future these lists will have some sort of theme, a thread tied through each link that weaves a poetic tale of life, and the intricacies found within. But for now, it’s ripshit and ramshackle and I think there’s beauty in that, too (which is what I tell my tearful, blubbering reflection in the mirror every morning).
So, in no particular order:
Museum of Endangered Sounds - a small collection of audio artifacts, like the jagged slice-and-stutter of the dot matrix printer, or the jaunty bg music from MindMaze. Sadly, the site itself seems close to extinction as it hasn’t been updated for several years.
PlayPhraseMe - plug in phrases and PPM will spit out movie clips that feature that phrase. Endlessly entertaining way to tell people “I’m not sorry.”
Mold - so much more than a food mag, Mold is an impressive catalog dedicated to “designing the future of food” and how we create, cultivate, and consume it.
Ecosia - a search engine that plants trees. Offset the ecological server strain of your porn addiction by using Ecosia’s chrome extension.
Hot Dog Run - ICYMI, Pablo Rochat is a genius.
Hugo Henderson’s MTV VMA Recaps - binge-worthy nostalgia-laden serotonin boosts by way of witty 15-25 minute recaps. It’s wild to see how mainstream media has (and has not) changed, and all the crazy shit Madonna said.
Black & Pink - one of my favorite abolitionist organizations—they offer support to queer people and those living with HIV/AIDS.
My Letterboxd - I really just want more movie friends.
